Rarely – and with lower reliability than on daily charts. True price gaps rarely occur during continuous intraday sessions on equity markets. On 5-minute or 15-minute charts, what appears to be a gap is often just a candle boundary where the next candle opens at the prior close. The 4-hour chart around major session opens (like the market open gap) can produce valid formations, but the daily chart remains the most reliable timeframe by a meaningful margin.
