Many investors want to transfer shares, check their demat holdings, or manage their securities online without having to visit their broker or submit paper forms every time. CDSL Easiest is an online facility from CDSL that allows eligible demat account holders to view account information and submit certain securities transfer instructions online. In this blog, you will understand what CDSL Easiest is, how it works, how to register for online access, and when beginners should use it carefully.
CDSL Easiest stands for Electronic Access to Securities Information and Execution of Secured Transactions. It allows CDSL demat account holders to view holdings, track transactions, monitor corporate announcements, and submit certain online transfer instructions. To register, visit the official CDSL Easiest registration page, enter your DP ID and Client ID, verify OTPs, select the account type, and wait for DP authentication.
CDSL Easiest is an online facility offered by Central Depository Services India Limited, also known as CDSL, for demat account holders who want online access to securities information and certain transaction instructions.
The full form of CDSL Easiest is Electronic Access to Securities Information and Execution of Secured Transactions. It is different from CDSL Easi. Easi is mainly for viewing demat account information, while Easiest allows online execution of certain secured transactions, such as securities transfer instructions.
In simple words, CDSL Easiest helps investors do some demat-related actions online. For example, if you want to transfer shares from one CDSL demat account to another eligible demat account, CDSL Easiest may help you submit that instruction online after registration and DP approval.
Before using this facility, beginners should first understand how a demat account works. If you are planning to open an account, you can also check Alice Blue’s open demat account page.
CDSL Easiest works as an online link between the investor, the Depository Participant, and CDSL.
Here is the basic flow:
CDSL Easiest is available for investors who hold a demat account with CDSL. Your broker or Depository Participant can help you confirm whether your demat account is with CDSL or NSDL.
A CDSL demat account number is usually a 16-digit number. It includes the DP ID and Client ID. To understand these terms better, read Alice Blue’s guide on DP ID, BO ID, and Demat ID.
The official CDSL Easiest registration page asks for DP ID and Client ID first. It then moves through OTP, account details, and finish steps.
During registration, OTP verification is done through the registered mobile number and email ID. The CDSL page mentions that OTP is valid for 5 minutes.
CDSL Easiest shows account type options such as Trusted Account and Account of Choice. Trusted Account is commonly used for transferring securities to pre added demat accounts, while Account of Choice gives wider transfer access and may need extra authentication requirements.
Registration does not become active just by filling out the online form. CDSL says users must wait for authentication from their DP to activate the login.
Once the DP approves the request and the login is active, you can use the available features based on the account type, DP process, and CDSL rules.
Follow these steps to register for CDSL Easiest:
Step 1: Visit the official CDSL website
Go to the official CDSL Easi or Easiest login page. Avoid links received through unknown SMS, WhatsApp messages, or emails.
Step 2: Choose “Register for Easiest”
On the login page, select the option to register for Easiest. The official CDSL login page shows separate registration options for Easi and Easiest.
Step 3: Enter DP ID and Client ID
Enter your DP ID and Client ID correctly. These details are part of your demat account number.
Step 4: Complete OTP verification
Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and email ID. If the OTP expires, request a new one.
Step 5: Fill in the account details
Enter your preferred username, select the account type, choose a security question, and complete the required fields.
Step 6: Select Trusted Account or Account of Choice
Most beginners may find Trusted Account easier to understand because transfers are limited to pre-added accounts. Account of Choice may need extra requirements such as an e-token or digital certificate, depending on the use case.
Step 7: Submit and wait for DP authentication
After registration, wait for your DP to authenticate the request. CDSL clearly mentions that DP authentication is needed to activate the login.
Step 8: Log in after activation
Once your login is active, use your CDSL Easiest credentials carefully. Do not share your username, password, PIN, TPIN, OTP, or email access with anyone.
Let us say Arjun has two CDSL demat accounts.
Details | Demat Account 1 | Demat Account 2 |
Depository | CDSL | CDSL |
Shares held | 100 shares of Company A | No shares |
Market price per share | ₹420 | Not applicable |
Total value of shares | ₹42,000 | Not applicable |
Arjun wants to transfer 100 shares of Company A from Demat Account 1 to Demat Account 2.
Value of transfer:
100 shares × ₹420 = ₹42,000
Without online transfer access, Arjun may need to submit a Delivery Instruction Slip, also called DIS, to his DP. A DIS is like a cheque leaf used for securities transfer.
With CDSL Easiest, if Arjun has registered properly and his DP has approved the access, he may be able to submit the transfer instruction online. CDSL states that electronic instruction platforms such as Easiest allow clients to give electronic instructions through the depository platform.
This does not mean the transfer creates profit or loss. It only moves securities from one demat account to another. The investment value still depends on the market price of the shares.
To understand transfer steps in detail, you can read Alice Blue’s guide on how to transfer shares from one demat account to another.
CDSL Easiest is useful when you want to transfer securities from one demat account to another without using paper slips every time.
If you hold shares across multiple demat accounts and want to bring them into one main account, CDSL Easiest can help, subject to eligibility and DP approval.
You can also read Alice Blue’s guide on how to check how many demat accounts you have.
Offline forms can be delayed due to wrong details, signature mismatch, missing fields, or branch processing time. Online access can reduce some of these issues once the setup is done properly.
Since Easiest includes information access, investors can check holdings and transaction details through CDSL access.
Investors who often move securities between accounts, handle family account transfers, or manage several holdings may find it useful.
If you enter the wrong BO ID, ISIN, quantity, or account details, the transfer may fail or create confusion. Always cross check before submitting.
Registration may not be active immediately. Your DP has to approve the request. Do not wait until the last moment if you need access for a planned transfer.
If you only buy and sell shares through one broker account, you may not need CDSL Easiest immediately. Your broker platform and CDSL TPIN may be enough for routine sell transactions.
To understand sell authorisation, read Alice Blue’s guide on what is TPIN.
CDSL Easiest can be used for transaction instructions. Keep login details, PINs, OTPs, email access, and mobile access secure.
CDSL Easiest gives online access, but transfer charges, DP charges, taxes, or stamp duty may still apply depending on the transaction. Read Alice Blue’s blog on DP charges before transferring or selling securities.
You can read Alice Blue’s guide on how to download demat account statement to track your holdings.

CDSL states that Easiest provides the benefits of Easi and also permits online debit and credit instructions from the demat account.
Always register through the official CDSL website. Do not use links sent through unknown messages.
A wrong demat number can delay registration. Check your demat account details from your broker before entering them.
Easi is mainly for viewing information. Easiest includes online transaction instruction features.
Your registration is not fully active until your DP authenticates it. If it stays pending, contact your DP.
When adding a trusted account, verify the BO ID and account holder details carefully.
For normal selling through your broker platform, CDSL Easiest is usually not required. Many users sell holdings using broker login, CDSL TPIN, and OTP based authorisation.
Share transfers may have charges or tax record implications depending on the reason and type of transfer. Keep proper records.
CDSL Easiest is useful for:
It may be less suitable for complete beginners who only buy and sell through one broker account. Such users can first understand demat basics, TPIN, DP charges, and account statements before registering for transaction level access.
If you are still learning, Alice Blue’s demat and trading account guide is a useful starting point.
CDSL Easiest is useful for investors who want online access to demat information and certain securities transfer instructions. It is different from CDSL Easi because Easi mainly allows viewing, while Easiest also allows execution of eligible secured transactions. Beginners should use it only after understanding DP ID, Client ID, TPIN, trusted accounts, and transfer charges.
Before registering, check whether you truly need transfer access, keep your registered mobile and email active, and use only the official CDSL website.

Yes, CDSL Easiest can be used for eligible online securities transfer instructions after registration and DP authentication. The exact process depends on account type, trusted account mapping, and DP approval.
